Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Q:  Where do you get your information?
A: We have conducted extensive interviews with experts and other guests who have had supernatural experiences, or who have investigated supernatural/paranormal phenomena. Many of our guests are published authors.

Q:  Do Angels help us?
A:  According to many of the guests we have interviewed, and other sources, the answer is yes. Some of our guests have described angels as messengers, record-keepers and guardians. Angels have also been described as having great power to fight against evil spirits, or demons. However, this protective power is conditional; it is based on the particular belief and lifestyle of each individual.

Q:  Are demons real?  Can they really harm us?
A:  According to many of our guests and sources, yes, demons are real and in some cases, can cause great harm to come to humans, even to the point of death. One of our guests, Bob Larson (author of "Larson's Book of Spiritual Warfare" and "In the Name of Satan") believes demons are invisible spirits which seek to cause harm to humans. He claims demons are able to influence people to commit harmful acts, ranging from angry outbursts to alcohol and drug addictions, to abuse, and in some cases, even suicide and murder.

Q:  Who or what are demons? Where do they come from?
A:  According to Larson, who bases his belief on descriptions found in the Bible, demons used to be angels in heaven who joined Lucifer, or Satan, who rebelled against God. As a result, these rebellious angels, along with their leader Satan, were kicked out of heaven and sent to the earth. The rebellious angels constituted one-third of all angels, while two-thirds remained obedient to God. Now, these fallen angels, or demons, roam the earth, usually in invisible form, looking for humans to influence and/or inhabit, with the purpose of causing humans to commit harmful acts leading to their own death or the deaths of others. Several guests have also described demons in hell, in addition to roaming the earth.

Q:  How do demons initially influence a person?
A:  Larson believes demons can influence a person through involvement in occult activities, such as ouija boards, seances, cult-type religious activity and witchcraft. However, he also believes demons enter and take advantage of people who have suffered severe traumatic events, such as emotional, physical and sexual abuse. He claims this traumas can cause severe resentment, anger and depression, and that demons influence persons sufferering from these symptoms to commit harmful acts. Much of this has also been confirmed by another of our guests, former voodoo practicioner Curtis Kelley, author of "Bound to Lose, Destined to Win."

Q:  Can a person actually become possessed by a demon?
A:  In some extreme cases, yes. In fact, demon-possession is an event even mentioned in the Bible. According to our guests and other sources, when a person is completely possessed by a demon or demons, they exhibit the classic signs of a screaming lunatic. But for most people, demon influence is much more subtle.

Q:  I feel that sometimes I do things I don't really want to do, like some force is influencing me to do it. Could this be a demon?
A: According to many of our guests, this is exactly the type of behavior typical of demon influence. This is not to say that everything we do which is harmful is necessarily due to demon influence. However, many harmful acts committed by many people, according to our sources, are a result of demon influence.

Q: I'm not totally sure about this demon influence stuff, but if I am influenced by one, how do I get free from it?
A According to some of our sources and guests, the only way to break free from demonic influence is through a strong personal faith in God, along with stopping any involvement in any occult or other harmful activity.

Q:  Why do so many of your guests talk so much about religion and God?
A:  Yes, it's true that many of our guests come from a religious point of view, though we make every effort to present a balanced perspective. For example, one of our guests is James Randi, one of the best-known skeptics in the world.

Q:  Is heaven real?
A:  According to many of our guests, and many religious sources, yes.

Q:  Is hell real?
A: According to many of our guests, and many religious sources, yes.

Q: Are there different degrees of punishment in hell?
A: According to Dante's Inferno, several sources and even indications in the Bible, yes. Of course, no place in hell is described as pleasant, but it appears that there will be some people punished more severely than others. Bryan Melvin, author of "Hell's Dominion: A Land Unknown," describes hell as a place where each person is punished based on their deeds in this life. He describes Adolf Hitler as sitting in a cube, being burned with white-hot flames, as if all the flames of the ovens from the concentration camps were being meted back to him as punishement.

Q: What can I do to avoid going to hell?
A: It depends on who you talk to. For many of those who accept that hell is a reality, they claim that the only thing that will save them is a strong faith in God. If you're an atheist, or members of certain religious or other groups, then hell doesn't exist. The choice is yours.

Q: Isn't it true that ghosts are the spirits of dead people?
A: This is a very common belief. People are sharply divided on this issue. Some people that some of these apparitions could be either angels, demons or aliens.

Q: What's wrong with books like "Harry Potter," films like "Twilight" or "Dracula," or TV shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer?" If I watch these, does it invite demons into my life?
A: There is a great deal of debate on this subject. In one of our episodes, we explore occult in the media. Our primary guest for this episode is Richard Abanes, who has authored several books dealing with both cults and the occult. He feels that in some cases, such media can be an entry point for demons, especially for people who take such subjects seriously and become more involved in the occult. Does this mean that every person who watches such programs is automatically influenced by a demon? Not necessarily. But does it mean that such programs, films and books can influence some people to delve into advanced forms of the occult, such as witchcraft and Satanism? In some cases, yes.

Q:  If I died right now, where would I spend eternity?
AAgain, there is much debate about this question. For atheists, there is no eternity, so there is nothing to be worried about. For others, especially in the religious community, there is an eternity, and sometimes, a few people are given glimpses of it to tell others about it. That is what Stories of the Supernatural is about. The choice is yours.
